Dixie Catfish Shack in Atmore

Staff gave good food recommendation, and were very fast in preparing an order. They were nice, and managed to get me hot food to go. Food was quite good, and was fried well. Catfish is a must eat here.

Best catfish I have eaten in my lifetime! Truly a real treat to go and get the "all you can eat" , great service and the friendliest people to serve you like royalty! Thanks Mr. John and Diane for the crispiest secret recipe I have ever tasted in my 64 years!

I don't remember our server's name but, she was the only one there and she never once complained. With the restaurant being almost packed, she made us feel like we were the only ones there. She always had a smile on her face although we could barely see her because she was running so fast.I love supporting these little small, hole in the wall, Mom and Pop restaurants. Especially when the food is this good. I don't know when, but I will be coming back and bringing my wife.

I love this place😍 The food is so good and it's a simple little restraunt . The prices are good but the food is better😊😉 I recommend this place. Also as a bonus you can also order it to go on the phone then pick it up there.

The catfish were small but the waitress had them throw another in the fryer for me because of it and without me having to say anything. The food was ok. The reason for my 3 stars: service was great and friendly and food wasn't bad. Con: a customer walked in, walked around behind the counter and got his own ice and drink with the scooper never washed his hands. If I hadn't already had my drink I'd have walked out right then. I'm glad they have customers with that relationship but I'm not into noncleanliness.

This locally owned family business has the best food! From their fresh Alabama river catfish to their generous portioned salads, you can’t go wrong. One of my favorite restaurants.

This is absolutely an outstanding place to eat. There is no place better for catfish than the Dixie Catfish Shack. The catfish is fried just right, and the baked potato was piping hot when it was served to us, not like some other places where the butter won't even melt in the potato. But, the catfish is the star of the show. A lot of people will pass this places up, to go to the Wind Creek Casino to eat, which is fine with me, that means more catfish for me to eat. You have to keep your eyes open for it, because it looks small from the road but, once in side it is very spacious. The place is clean and, the waitresses are fast and friendly. There are other items on the menu if you do not like seafood, and there is of course a kids menu. Be sure to stop and eat some fresh hot catfish are you surely will be passing up a great place to eat.

It's a shack alright but that's the only place you should consider eating catfish. Delicious is a word that is very inadequate in describing the catfish, fresh and delicious shrimp and one of the best coleslaw we had anywhere. Very sweet, smiling, polite and friendly staff. It will be in our "best places ever". Don't miss it

The staff was friendly. I got the small fish plate, I didn't like it. Too much gray in it and it tasted too swampy. I don't know how else to describe it. Too fishy? Maybe. I know its fish but it had a bad taste. I asked for lemon and was brought a plate with slices of lemon that were cut for the glasses of tea. The fries were really plain no seasoning or salt on them. The restroom has a gap under the door about 2 to 3 inches high and it's right next to tables so it was pretty embarrassing to go with the feeling that the people at that table right outside the restroom could see me. 🤷‍♀️

Only had one order... order placed inside restaurant, took over 30 minutes to get a to-go plate and then was asked to wait again for another to-go order to be paid for, which that customer did not have to wait for. Way too long to get order.... Good food, way to long to get it.

The best hamburger steak I have ever had!

I had heard from locals how good this place was. They were right! I hot the seafood platter and it was AMAZING! My wife thought her meal was excellent as well. I hesitated going because it seemed like a little hole in the wall but the food makes up for the simple setting.

I really enjoyed the slaw and salad. I read alot of good reviews before coming to visit your place. the fillets were small. They were off flavor.. This is something that can be addressed at the farm you buy from. I ride around the south and Texas. I eat CATFISH and deliver quality tested fish daily. I'm not trying to sell you a new brand. just have your farm work on flavor and maybe go up one size on fillets. If they cant fix the gammy flavor. Try removing the dark pieces from fillet. I rated your fish today @ 4 out of 10. flavor size and over cooked. Thank you

If in Atmore, This is A Must Stop....

The food was decent, though the country fried steak was on the smaller side compared to other restaurants. They had run out of BBQ, so my mom had to pick something else, but the waitress left to give her time to decide and forgot to come back. We told someone else, and the food came out with the rest so not a huge deal. And they had French dressing, which not many places have. No honey mustard though which most restaurants do have. Side salads had all sorts of goodies on them. Overall, good experience for my first visit

Stopped here passing through Alabama. Pretty good food. Sweet Tea could have been a little stronger. Fish was great! Oysters good. Frozen French fries ehhh. Hush puppies yum! This is a must stop if you are hungry.

Possibly one of the greatest local diners I have ever eaten at. Dixie Catfish shack served us excellent fried catfish sandwiches as well as top of the line gumbo which tasted absolutely incredible. The staff were very friendly and the diner had a nice quaint atmosphere. I definitely would recommend coming here since they have great local flavors and a lot of delicious options to choose from. 😁

We had cheeseburgers they were good. But my diet Pepsi had alot of foam on top and tasted very funny.

First time here and the food is very good. Try the catfish nuggets platter or the shrimp gumbo.

Great place to eat. Been eating here for years. Never had a bad experience. Are there today. My favorite, hotwings loaded bake potato, onion rings, n the burgers.

We came in with a party of 10 for birthday party, Karen our waitress handled our table like a pro!! Thank you Karen for a great dining experience. The menu is so flexible kids ate shrimp and chicken. Grownups had hamburger steak to shrimp! Thank you Dixie

Have been going here since it was the only thing at this exit! Service is country hospitality! Food is like your favorite aunt is in the kitchen! Our favorites are the catfish and hamburgers! Definitely try the mile high homemade cakes!

It’s better than David’s Catfish. I’m not saying Davids is bad. I’m just saying Dixie is better. The house salad is the best.
